Acts 1:8

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
 
At Riverwood, we love thinking about outreach through the lens of Acts 1:8, and one way we see it applying practically is outlined here by matching the regions mentioned in the verse to regions that apply to us:
  • Jerusalem is our Riverwood church community where we strive to love each other as a family and serve each other like Jesus would.
  • Judea is the Rockford/Greenfield community and surrounding local areas where we look to be Jesus to those around us in practical ways.
  • Samaria is Minnesota and the United States where we want to be involved as opportunity arises to serve those in need, including cross-culturally.
  • The Ends of the Earth is across the globe, which we meet by supporting four Global Partners, as well as sending out short-term mission teams and seeking to raise up believers to go into all the world and preach the gospel.
 
Outreach and Service Opportunities:
 
Jerusalem – The Riverwood Community
 
  • Meals Ministry-This is a team of people who make meals for people who have a need, most often after a surgery, birth of a baby, death in the family, or any other needs that arise. When these events occur, this team is mobilized to serve practically by delivering a meal.
  • Visitation Ministry -The people in this ministry are notified when members of the church family are sick or physically unable to attend church. These visits can take place in the hospital or in homes. When members of this team are able, they go visit these individuals, bringing fellowship and love from the Body of Christ.
