  • The preschool class will be doing Kidmo's Lil'k series again. This fast-paced, interactive series draws kids in while teaching them about God. And, our teachers have a heart for God and love creating an environment for the kids to learn. Your pre-schooler will be off to a great start!
  • The K-1 will be starting a brand new series here at Riverwood. They will be going through the 252 Basics series, a series that provokes discovery, inviting kids to live out their new understanding of how to grow in relationship with God and with others.
  • 2nd-3rd graders will be going through the 252 Basics series. It is a series that provokes discovery, inviting kids to live out their new understanding of how to grow in relationship with God and with others.
  • The 4th and 5th graders will work through a series called In the Beginning...Jesus. It is a chronological study on the redemptive history of the Bible. It begins with a historical mystery—Jesus' death on the cross—and asks the questions: "What really happened here?" "Why did Jesus die?" and "Who did it?"

What is AWANA? In their own words "Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly programs for students age 3 through 6th Grade. Our goal is to equip churches to reach kids, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15."

Good News Club®

The Good News Club meets in Rockford Elementary School from 3:00-4:30 on Thursdays in the classroom of Lora Lakin (room 507).  There are currently 20-30 kids/week, and plenty of room for more. This is a free afterschool program!!

The Good News Club® is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship® in which trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centers, churches, apartment complexes, just about anywhere the children can easily and safely meet with their parent's permission. Each week the teacher presents an exciting Bible lesson using colorful materials from CEF Press®. This action-packed time also includes songs, Scripture memory, a missions story and review games or other activities focused on the lesson's theme.

As with all CEF ministries, the purpose of Good News Club is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.

We currently have the following needs:
•       Team leader (all volunteers are in place and know what to do, but we need a contact person between volunteers, kids, school just to make sure everything keeps running smoothly.
•       A driver-drop kids off at the Corcoran Trailer Park (Maple Hills Estates). Gas and van are provided.  Pick kids up at 4:30 p.m., back to school by 5:20 p.m.
•       Financial Support.
Please be praying with us:
•       To see God's kingdom come in Rockford Elementary as it is in heaven.
•       To expand to rent two classrooms and divide the kids (K-2 and 3-5 grades).
Contact: Chris Adams at 612.978.1231 if you are interested in getting involved, or having your child attend.  You can find stories about Rockford and other ways God is moving at Chris’ blog:  http://heavenislike.wordpress.com/
