Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. Riverwood Covenant Church loves the community it serves and beyond. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas. Riverwood Covenant members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as folding church bulletins to having a big role in Sunday mornings. Where can you see yourself connecting?

Children’s Ministries

Riverwood Covenant loves the little ones and they love it here also! Our Children’s Ministry is growing just as fast as they grow. We have volunteer opportunities in the Nursery, Pre-K Sunday school, and grades K-5 Sunday School. Come hold the babies or teach our young generation about God’s love. The curriculum is all created and lesson plans are laid out for you. Join us in teaching these young ones all about God’s great love for them. To find out more contact Lynn Sommerstad our Children’s Ministry Director.

Elevate Student Ministries

Elevate was created to meet the needs of those students grades 6-12. They meet on Sunday Mornings at 11:00 am for a special devotional/teaching time and then again on Wednesday nights from 6-8 pm where they worship/fellowship/pray/serve/support each other. These students are our next generation! If you have a special place in your heart for supporting and guiding teens please consider volunteering with Elevate. Contact Bobby Walerius, our Elevate Student Ministries Director to find out how you can help shape the next generation.

Global Impact

Riverwood is passionate about community, both near and far! We have several mission based projects both small and large that we participate in. From packing meals with Kids Against Hunger, to a full day of serving our community on Thousand Hearts Day, to heading to Uganda in August of 2014 to share God’s love across the globe. If you love reaching out to others and want to find out more what Riverwood has going on with missions, contact Rachel Annis, Global Impact Ministry Lead.

Hospitality Ministry
The coffee shop and hospitality ministry are one of the first ways that we can show love to new visitors to Riverwood. Who doesn’t love a great cup of coffee and a yummy pastry? The coffee shop was designed with this in mind as a place for everyone to feel welcome and comfortable. In the coffee shop you will make regular coffee, create specialty drinks and smoothies (training provided!) and help with the set-up and clean-up of the commons on Sundays. Other aspects of this ministry include treats and bread–Panera Bread donates bread and pastries to Riverwood to distribute to anyone! If you would like to help serve in this way by picking up bread on Saturday evenings or setting up pastries and treats on Sunday morning, we would welcome the help! Contact Lou Ann Eberspacher to sign up.

Meals Ministry

Love to cook? The Meals Ministry is for you! What a great way to be the hands and feet of Jesus by bringing a meal to those in need. We are always in need of volunteers (men and women!) willing to cook and deliver meals. You participate when it works for your schedule. Contact Chris Lowery if you want to help.

Media & Technology

Every Sunday there are wonderful volunteers sitting in our sound booth to help bring our services to life. It takes several people to do this job. Someone to run the sound board, someone to run the PowerPoint slides and yet another to run lights. If you love “techy” things contact the church office to see where your love of all things techy could be of service at Riverwood in serving our Lord on Sundays!

Music & Drama

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Do you have the gift of music in the form of vocal or instrument playing? Would you like to use that gift to serve at Riverwood? If so, contact Andrea Canniff, one of our Worship Directors. She would love to chat with you and see how your gift can be used to serve our Lord.

Prayer Team

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Riverwood Covenant is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, after each service, a team of volunteers is available to pray for our brothers and sisters in need of prayer. Throughout the week, volunteers on our Prayer Team, pray for our pastors, our church, as well as any special requests they have received.  Do you love to pray for others? Contact Tracy Shearer to join the prayer team.

Ushers

The usher team at Riverwood Covenant fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life. If you would like to serve in the Usher ministry contact the church office.

Visitation Ministry
When members and friends of Riverwood are ill or in the hospital, the Visitation Ministry provides a friendly face and conversation to those in need. If you have a heart for reaching out to the sick and hurting, you may be a great fit for the Visitation Ministry. Contact Nate Korns to get involved.

Welcome Ministry

When you arrived for your first time at Riverwood you were probably greeted warmly by a Welcome Ministry volunteer. It is such a great feeling to walk into someplace new and be greeted by a smiling face. Sure makes you feel at home doesn’t it? Be a part of creating that feeling for someone else by joining the Welcome Ministry. Dara Apolloni is our Welcome Ministry Lead. Contact Dara get more information on serving in this ministry. Please put “Riverwood Welcome Ministry” in the subject of the email.
